Anchor Steam

Yes, it’s American, but no, it doesn’t taste like piss. ‘Steam’ is virtually hand made with the highest regard for the ancient art of brewing. With a deep amber colour and citrus hops flavour, it’s a little like a fizzy bitter, which is no bad thing. £2.70 www.anchorbrewing.com
Bamberger Rauchbier

Recommended by our German pen pal, we were pretty brave getting this one in. This porter-like ale smokes its malt prior to brewing, which can be a bit of a shock for the uninitiated. It is reminiscent of lazy summer barbeques, and is decadent enough to be like a cigar in a bottle. Give it a try and we’re sure you’ll agree with the Font motto ‘who dares wins’. £2.80 www.schlenkerla.de
Budvar

Brewed using only the original recipe of water, malt and hops, we defy anyone to find us a superior lager. Americans may claim their Budweiser is the ‘King of beers’, but Budvar is truly the beer of kings.
£3.00 www.budvar.cz
Chimay

The biggest and best known Trappist brewery. Two yuppies came in recently, boasting about their business trip
to Belgium and their drinking prowess on the local tipple. Needless to say, a few of these down and they were staggering out of the door arm in arm like mere mortals.
Red: smooth and mellow with a light golden colour. £3.00
White: a delicate balance of fruity and bitter flavours. Easily the most popular of the range. £3.25
Blue: a dark strong ale characterized by its full flavour and port like aroma. At 9%, this beer is not to be taken lightly. £3.50 www.chimay.be
Delirium Tremens

This beer is named after the condition made famous by Nicholas Cage is the film leaving Las Vegas, one which the staff are particularly prone to. A warming alcohol flavour prevails in this golden ale that is far too drinkable at 8.5%, and the bottle and glass designs are just a bit crazy, very much like our Belgian friends.
£3.50 www.delirium.be
Desperados
This beer may come from France and look like a cheap version of Corona, but don’t let that put you off. This
beer is flavoured with Tequila, and tastes a lot like shandy. But beware, as it’s stronger than Stella.
£3.00 www.desperados.tv
Duvel

The original Belgian golden ale. Duvel has a distinctively aromatic yet strong character, and when drunk from its beautiful glass froths in your mouth like champagne. £3.20 www.duvel.be
Erdinger

A lovely German wheat beer, this is an excellent alternative to Hoegaarden, however it is considerably more popular with our European friends. Drink it and find out why it’s our favourite too.£3.00 www.erdinger.com
Fruli

A traditional Belgian blend of white beer with real fruit lends this strawberry beer a delightful creamy consistency.
It tastes a little like the red Solero, so don’t forget to don your knotted hanky and string vest before drinking commences. £2.80
Hebdens Wheat

Another valiant alternative to Hoegaarden, it has a slightly more subtle balance of citrus and coriander flavours, and it’s organic, which should keep all you bleedin’ hippies happy. £2.80 www.littlevalleybrewing.co.uk
Liefmans

These fruit beers have won many international awards for their quality and come in cherry (kriek) and Raspberry (frambozen), as well as Goudenband (er, the blue one). Though not strictly a fruit beer, this traditional brown ale is fruity none-the-less, with flavours of red wine, finishing in flourishes of Vimto. £3.50 www.liefmans.be
Magners

A premium brand of Cider produced in a time honoured tradition17 varieties of apple. Pure, crisp and refreshing with a natural character, Magners is a thirst quenching cider that puts others to shame. It comes in a pint sized bottle and should be served with plenty of ice. £3.30 www.magnerscider.com
Modello

Made by the same folk as Corona but this time they’ve got it right. It’s flavoursome enough to be drunk without the lime, but we don’t mind if you want one. £3.00
Modello Negra

This is still predominantly light and lager-like despite its rich chocolate colour. Slightly more bitter than the original, the flavour ends with tones of apple. £3.00

Nastro Azzurro

This stylish thirst-quencher is brewed in Rome and can now be found on draught in a few places. We’re certain the sheer quality of this beer will make it rise to the top of the bottled lager tree, and to help convince your good selves, we offer it at 2-4-1 every day until 10pm. £2.70 www.birraperoni.co.uk
Sabai

A sparkling blend of premium white wine and the red fruit wine of the hibiscus flower. Definitely one for the ladies, try it with a slice of lime, and, as ‘Sabai’ translates in Thai, ‘take it easy’ £2.80 www.sabaichilled.com
Tiger

Known and loved across Asia, Tiger is anything but a solely Asian beer, sourcing the finest ingredients from as
far a field as Australia and Europe. Light straw in colour with a crisp malty character it refreshed many a flustered serviceman in WWII, hence its popularity in the west. Seeing as most of the staff are flustered most of the time,
this is another Font favourite. £2.70 www.tigerbeer.com
Timmermans Peche

A traditional Belgian beer matured in oak barrels and flavoured with peach, executed beautifully to produce a
subtly fruity delicate beer. £2.60 www.john-martin.be
Vedett

This extra blonde premium beer is brought to you by the same lot who make Duvel, hence the distinctive bottle and its quality contents. It is crisp, dry and refreshing making it an ideal accompaniment to a sunny afternoon, and if you really like the packaging, you can have your image preserved for all eternity on the back of the label. Just visit their website. £2.80 www.vedett.com
White Shield IPA

Defiant survivor of the 1820’s IPA tradition, White Shield owes its alluring sparkle to pioneering maltsters who
fired home grown barley malts over coke ovens to create lighter beers than the dark porters of the day. White
Shield is a bottled live beer that matures with age, so watch out for the sediment in the very last drops. £2.80 www.worthingtons-whiteshield.com
